(102 first strike, first day of issue quarters) NGC has recognized and graded some USM 1st day issues (as shown in the final pic with the canceled stamp side visible) In my personal experience, the majority of these quarters have far fewer handling marks, if any, compared to those issued in clad US mint sets or rolls, and should generally grade higher ... almost prooflike in most cases, because they were handled much less than other business strike quarters. For those unfamiliar with these sets, the outward facing side of the envelope certifies First strike/First day of issue dates, with an autopen signature of the US Mint Director of that given year.The other side of the stamped envelope (shown in 3rd party NGC final pic) rests against a rigid brown cardboard backing that protects the envelope and coins, and has a cancellation date which matches the 1st day of issue date. This can't be seen without removing the outer cellophane + brown cardboard backing, which reduces set value, so finding pics online is a better alternative.There are inner plastic coin seals very similar to coin flips, on all sets, for added coin protection. Complete 1st strike, 1st day of issue sets are relatively rare, with less than 35,000 envelopes of each state, issued by the US mint in 2007 + 2008, and under 20.000 produced of the 2009 DC set.We are listing these for less than what shipping cost for all 51 sets.
