Description: Al Capone Artifacts - Room of Doom - Lexington Hotel - Chicago Mafia / Gangster Al Capone’s lair, office, and command center—known as "The Room of Doom"—were central to the operations of Chicago's most powerful man of the 1920s. This inner sanctum was located in the Lexington Hotel, a 10-story brick and terra cotta building constructed in 1892. The hotel’s most infamous resident was none other than Alphonse “Scarface” Capone, who lived there from 1928 to 1932. Capone and his extensive entourage occupied the second, fourth, and fifth floors, strategically placing bodyguards in rooms surrounding his personal suite—next to, above, and below. Armed guards, disguised as ordinary men reading newspapers, monitored the lobby at all times, ever vigilant for threats to Capone. The Lexington Hotel thus became a fortress, securing Capone’s position as a figurehead of organized crime in Chicago.Listed for sale are three (3) artifacts from Al Capone's infamous "Room of Doom" in the Lexington Hotel. Included is a pink plaster wall fragment, a white bathtub chip, and a lavender chip from Capone's famous bathtub. All three artifacts have been mounted to a graphic display board detailing the items and their history. The board has been framed in custom frame measuring 10.5" x 15".
