What's on this DVD; The American Revolutionary War This DVD is a collection of films on the American Revolution and the causes that brought the American Colonies to make that decision. One of mankind's greatest hero's was General George Washington. After leading the United States through a very long war and winning, George Washington did what almost no other leader would ever do, he gave up his power after his ultimate victory at Yorktown. This created our Republic for what is today. We could of had a King, but instead, we got a Presidential system. We hope you'll enjoy. 1st Film; "The Cause of the Revolution". Taxation without representation!!! Because of the long war with France, the British wanted to tax the colonies to help pay for it, but did not want to give the colonies a say in the matter. The colonies resented the taxation and claimed it illegal! Remember the Tea-Party! Instead of listening to the colonist's grief, British Government just enforced even more taxes without representation. Runtime 16:06 Min's 2nd Film; "Lexington and Bunker Hill". This is known as the "Shot that was heard around the World". The British Marched to Concord to take away the colonies gunpowder. To warn the Americans colonists, two lanterns were used in a church steeple, "One if by land, two if by sea". The British did come by land, and the fight was on at Lexington. Next was Bunker Hill. Amazing story! Runtime 16:23 Min's 3rd Film; "The War Years". This is a short history of the 6 longs years of war. When the war was over, the 13 colonies won their freedom. Runtime 15:17 Min's 4th Film; "The Navy and the Revolution". In this Navy film, it shows how the Navy fought and contributed to our independence. From 1775 to 1783, Our Navy started off with only one ship, and ended the war with only one ship. Remember John Paul Jones!! Runtime 22:41 Min's 5th Film; "Sons of the Revolution". This film recounts John Putnam's experience with the British that lead him to join the "Sons of the Revolution". From the over reach of the British Government by taxing the colonists, to closing of the Boston Harbor. John Putnam, who trained as a Minuteman, joined the American Army. John Putnam survived the war and tells about the great hardships our soldiers suffered through the war years. Runtime 14:47 min's 6th Film; "Victory at Yorktown". This a great story of the last battle of the American Revolution. It tells both points of view from the British's General Cornwallis side and the American's General George Washington. Well worth seeing.
