Description: Up for your consideration original French 19th century Louis XVI ct. patinated bronze statue titled: "Au Clair De La Lune" and signed BOURET. Eutrope Bouret (1833-1906), student of Buhot, made his debut at the Salon of 1875 and obtained an honorable mention in 1885. Titled on its base "Au clair de la Lune", my friend Pierrot... a famous nursery rhyme popularized in the 18th century, which is an integral part of French heritage. Pierrot, orphan, is presented to us standing, playing the mandolin, his head following his body slightly inclined and his right leg advanced. In this position, it is easy for us to imagine him singing a melody accompanied by his instrument, to seduce the public. The budding comedian is wearing a floppy hat, a traditional shirt with large buttons and small tasselled slippers, in keeping with the fanciful costume known to all. Excellent condition, consistent with age and use. Please, look at the pictures as they are part of the description. Measuring 18.1” high with square base 5.5” x 5.5”.
