Description: Antique Signed Dutch Oil Painting of a Winter Skating Scene This is a beautiful Dutch painting of a winter ice skating scene in front of an old Dutch house/castle.The painting features multiple winter activities including two people on the left throwing snowballs, another building a snowman, an older man walking a dog, two boys sliding on the ice, a mother helping her son and daughter learn to skate, a man and woman deep in conversation, and a man in the distance returning home. The antique frame is a dark and medium brown stained wooden frame with a beveled design, with an interior beveled decorative gilt accent. The painting measures 32” wide by 28” tall by 2” deep.Sight: 19.5 x 23.5”There is an illegible signature in the very bottom right hand corner near the frame. It is a dark signature on a dark background, and is very hard to discern the artist’s name (let alone see the signature). A label on the reverse of the painting has a number (1939) on a label , however, it is unknown if this is part of a larger number of if the date is 1939. I am guessing that this painting is from the late 19th C to the early 20th C.The reverse also indicates that this is an oil painting of a Holland (Netherlands) landscape. This is a very beautiful piece of art. This painting was originally purchased in Switzerland while living abroad. It is in very good condition, and it was restored by the Pennsylvania Art Conservatory in Berwyn, PA in 2015. This will be carefully and securely packed, and will also be insured.
