WAY OF SWORD MAKING: 1. <1>TANREN: FORGING <2>TSURIKOMI AND SUNOBE: FORMING THE BLANK The balde was made of High carbon Steel, it was Fully hand forged in a completely traditional manner. It has been smelted and pounded (hand forged) to decrease the remain impurities of the carbon steel and better distribute the carbon to form the blank. 2. <1>HIZUKURI: FULLY SHAPING THE BLADE <2>ARA-SHIAGE: ROUGH FINISHING <3>YAKI-IRE: HEAT TREATING The blade would be fully hand shaping, and then heat treating after grinding (rough finishing), then quickly oil and water quenching (tempering) to greatly improve the hardness and flexiblity of the balde. This way allow the layers to cool at different rates during the tempering process, The faster steel cools, the harder it becomes; this is a product of the carbon that is mixed with the steel. The slower steel cools, the softer it remains. This creats a nature mix of hardness and flexibility. 3. <1>SHIAGE: FINISHING THE BLADE <2>HI AND HORIMONO: GROOVES AND ENGRAVINGS Hand shaping the balde after the second time polished (Finishing the blade), And two long Hi (blood groove) were made on each side of the blade to create a lighter blade while swung and balance it to achive an optimal performance. NAKAGO AND MEIKIRI:FILING AND SIGNING THE TANG This blade comes with a full length Tang which greatly enhances the strength of the sword while swung. TOGI:SWORD POLISHING Fully hand polished by our experience swordsmith with more than 15 process hand sharpening work by the multiple grade abrasive stone in the most traditional Japanese craftmanship way.
