Description: Fire Team Comics Lot Six Green Berets journey into Hell in the jungles of the Vietnam War. All presented in Glorious Black & White. Awesome!!Writer: Don Lomax Artist: Don Lomax Inker: Rose Lomax Letterer: Don Lomax All Covers by: Don Lomax Cam Ky MacMurphy is half-Vietnamese, half-American, and feels as if he doesn’t belong to either race. His uncle, Nguyen Van Tan, raised him from birth and the two live in an area of town that is controlled by a skinhead gang called the “Future Shock.” These criminals cause the inhabitants of the neighborhood to live in fear by forcing them to pay “protection” money. When Nguyen refuses to pay, he and Cam are beaten to within an inch of their lives and their family’s store is burned to the ground. The police, for their part, don’t even bother to file a report. Then hope appears in the form of a ghost from the past. When Nguyen was young, right after Cam was born, he worked with a U.S. Fire Team in the twilight days of the war in Vietnam. The team was comprised of six honest and brave men who died while trying to evacuate women and children from a hostile area. Now the Fire Team has come back from the dead to save Nguyen and Cam. Story (Spoilers!) In issue #1, A boy is cornered while seeking revenge against a gang of Neo-Nazis who destroyed his family’s business. Right before they can pounce on him, a ghostly apparition of a fallen American warrior appears and saves him. The boy is told that the apparition is a member of a fire team that laid down their lives to save him when he was young. Later, he goes to pay his respects and is confronted by the entire supernaturally resurrected fire team, who offer to help him in his feud with the Nazis. Next in issue #2, A fire team member interrupts a Nazi gathering with a hand grenade. Following, the origin of how each fire team member was slain is revealed in a flashback. The fire team discover that the Nazis plaguing the town are but a small branch in a major corrupt corporation. While they are occupied with a mission, the Nazis sneak in and kidnap the boy and his uncle. Next in issue #3, The captured boy and his uncle are taken prisoner aboard a Nazi controlled ship. The fire team makes their way towards the ship to save them but are caught in a trap and sunk to the bottom of the body of water. The boy barely escapes and jumps in the water to free them. With the fire team freed from the trap, they return to the ship and save the uncle. The boy discovers that his father is still somehow alive… Next in issue #4, The boy and his uncle travel to Vietnam to find the boy’s father. They are held up by thieves during a robbery and are forced to negotiate using their limited funds. As it turns out, one of the people they saved by sacrificing their money is the daughter of a powerful river smuggler with many connections. They use the connection to secure passage into deep Vietnam, but on their way they are ambushed by river pirates. They end up getting saved by the undead fire team coming in on their own boat. The woman’s father is killed in the attack, and his last words are instructing her to finish the weapons delivery to a resistance force. Next in issue #5, While continuing their journey down the river into the heart of Vietnam, they are ambushed by a contingent of communist soldiers. In the chaos, the boy and woman are captured by two patrols of enemy soldiers. The fire team catches up to the woman and kills all her captors. The uncle stumbles across a resistance group led by the boy’s father and explains the situation. Eventually, the fire team and the woman meet up with the uncle and resistance group. With the combined firepower, will they stand a chance against the communist forces holding the boy hostage? Finally, in issue #6, The boy is held hostage in a massive communist camp. The leader demands information from him, but the boy has no idea what he’s talking about. The leader freaks out and strikes him, and then sentences him to rot in a disgusting cage. The boy’s father is doing recon on the camp and spots the boy, so he attacks by himself and frees his son. Their reunion is short-lived as they are surrounded and retaken hostage again. The fire team and the resistance launch an all-out attack on the communist base, freeing the father. They attack again shortly after, this time targeting the bunker-esque structure the leader is hiding in. They defeat the communist regime and free the boy. The boy decides to join the resistance with his father and the fire team figures that they’ll stick around and help as much as they can. Comics lot contains: Fire Team (1990-1991) Issues #1-6.
