To hear this beating after 55 years of service it is a testament to Girard-Perregaux's quality. Dimensions: 38mm excluding crown, 42mm lug-to-lug, 13mm high. As the quartz revolution was about to hit Girard-Perregaux pulled out all the stops to make their movements as accurate and impressive as possible. In 1967 Girard-Perregaux received the 'Centenary Award' from the Astronomical Observatory de Neuchatel in recognition of the 32A chronometer movement and their all-round historical accomplishments. This movement (42.1) is a development of the 32A. In the photos you can see the movement number (421786), chronometer certified number (41099) and the 36000 ph markings. It has; GP's gyromatic winding, 39 jewels, a super anti-magnetic casing (a plate that goes over the movement before the case-back goes on). New period-correct 'lizard skin' strap. Very comfortable to wear and despite being gold-on-gold the watch is very easy to read. The case is gold plated with what could be a serial number between the lugs, the crown head is worn but it is original, a beautiful and clean brushed dial, impeccable hands and hour markers.Recently serviced by MigiTech in Melbourne before I purchased it (receipts available). A beautiful watch, a true horological gem of a movement from a superb watchmaker.
