I was given the contact info on this Minneapolis designer when I saw a woman wearing a magnificent similar skirt in Phoenix, AZ. I needed a special skirt for an important event I was going to, so I emailed Jennifer. She gave me a choice of several African print fabrics to choose from, and I also gave her my waist and desired length measurements. This is a hand made skirt by Ms. Addison and the pleating makes the skirt drape beautifully with her excellent craftsmanship. Jacqueline is a native of Ghana who immigrated to the U.S. in 2008. The name, Akua Gabby, is a reference to her mother, Akua, and her father, Gabby, who was a tailor. She has been featured twice in Minnesota Monthly Magazine, and I recently read that she dressed lead actress KJ Smith for the BET red carpet event. I wore this skirt only once to this very special event, and I received a great deal of attention when wearing it.
