Currier framed print of Major General Winfield Scott, General in Chief, United States Army. Note this print originated before the addition of Currier's partner Ives. The overall measurements, including the frame, is listed above. The actual viewable area measures at 9.5" wide by 13.5" long. The print has darkened with its advanced age and it appears to be hand colored. Winfield Scott was a hero of the Mexican War of 1846-1848, the last Whig Party candidate for U.S. president, and commanding general of the United States Army at the start of the American Civil War (1861-1865).
