Description: Blue Note 12-inch 33 RPM LP # BLP-4185 is "Song for My Father (Cantiga para meu Pai)" by the Horace Silver Quintet. The quintet members on four of the six tracks are listed on the cover as Horace Silver, Carmell Jones, Joe Henderson, Teddy Smith and Roger Humphries. The five on the other two tracks are Horace Silver, Blue Mitchell, Junior Cook, Gene Taylor and Roy Brooks. It is mono and undated, but not the original pressing, since the label describes Blue Note as "a division of Liberty Records, Inc." It was recorded by Rudy van Gelder and the sleeve notes are by Leonard Feather. The record looks to be in about VG to VG+ condition, still nice and shiny, but a few light surface scuffs and scratches. I've played both sides on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there are no skips or jumps, and mostly only lightly audible background noise, but with some occasional pops and clicks and ticking, which are especially audible during the quieter passages. There was one point where I thought it skipped, but when I went back and replayed it, there was no skip. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment. The cover is in used and worn condition, with the top and bottom seams started to split at the open ends, as well as some light surface rubbing and edge wear, and a small price sticker on the back.
