Description: This is a historically significant and Important Antique Early 19th c. Old New England MASSACHUCETTS Tin Metal Weathervane, depicting the huge hand-cut silhouette of a colonial American trumpet blower. This artwork likely dates to the early - mid 1800's, and was acquired by me from an octogenarian New England collector, who told me that he pulled this piece off of the roof of a huge derelict manor house in Massachusetts in the late 1960's. This monumental hand-cut tin weathervane has obviously received several coats of paint over its long life, and has had numerous old repairs and structural reinforcements, which are visible throughout the artwork, and most notably visible in the pointer arm of this piece (please see photos carefully.) This monumental weathervane is approximately 57 inches wide x 29 5/8 inches tall. Good overall condition for well over a century of outdoor display use, exposure to the elements, etc. The lower leg is bent inward, as well as the coat tails. They are quite fragile and cannot adequately support the weight of the entire weathervane (which is why I staged the photos how I did.) I personally picked up this American Folk Art masterpiece in Southern Texas, United States. This item is from my personal American Folk Art collection, and I'd be just as happy to keep it and continue to hang it on my wall, as I would be to sell it. I will entertain any reasonable and fair Offer for this wonderful item. Priced to Sell. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
