Description: Vintage from the 1970sOne of Israel's leading artists, Reuven Rubin, 1893 – 1974, created a series of lithographs called "The King David Series".It is in near mint condition. Rubin is considered one of Israel's leading artists. He was one of the first of Israel's artist to achieve international recognition. Born in Romania, he trained in Paris and Romania. His first exhibit was in 1924 in Jerusalem, and in 1932 his one man show in Tel Aviv launched the Tel Aviv Art Museum.Rubin created an indigenous style of art that was influenced by Henri Rousseau. He sought to fuse this style with eastern nuances. To me it is very reminiscent of Mark Chagall, although a bit less childlike in style and less surrealistic figures.Ruben served as Israel's first ambassador to Romania from 1948 to 1950, and was published in 1969 He received an Israel prize in 1973 for his artistic achievement. This print is numbered in Roman numerals, and signed. The top signature is Reuven in Hebrew, and below it is Rubin in English.Roman numerals give the run number on this image, but the others I have seen of his use standard numbers. I have seen Roman numerals used on his artist proofs.Image is @ 12" x 14.5" not including signature and print #.Inside measurement of matt is @ 14" x 17"The current frame is serviceable approximately 22.5" x 21.5"
