Description: The first rock music from the Fifties seems innocuous and even quaint today, but six-plus decades ago many viewed it as anything butthe music was viewed as dangerous and many sought to ban it, as evidenced by the intro and outro quotes on the discs of "Loud, Fast, and Out of Control," this four-disc, 104-song boxed set from Rhino Records which chronicles the rockabilly genre from what many consider its start in 1951 through the end of the decade. As always, Rhino compiles a well-packaged, well-documented set. An accompanying booklet starts with introductory essays about the music and the times during which it came to prominence, and how those factors influenced each other. The booklet also contains chart information (if applicable) and a short paragraph or two about each song in this set. Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and all of the giants of the genre are here, and the user gets to hear these artists in the context of other artists of the era, some famous and some obscure. "Loud, Fast, and Out of Control" is a well-put-together collection of Fifties rockabilly and is a superb lock at rock's first decade. One jewel case in this collection has a few small cracks. Otherwise the set is in great condition.
