Description: I have for auction a souvenir medal from the 1929 inauguration of republican President Herbert Hoover that took place on Monday, March 4, 1929. Hoover was our 31st president, Charles Curtis was his Vice President. Hoover was a one term president; he lost his re-election in 1932 to Franklin D. Roosevelt. This medal was made by the Schwaab S & S company of Milwaukee. The medal has three parts. The top pin back bar looks to be gilded tin that is 1 1/2 inches wide and reads SOUVENIR. It has a short red, white & blue ribbon that is a little worn. The gilded metal medal is 1 3/8 inches in diameter and in slightly circulated condition. In the center it shows the raised bust of Hoover, surrounded by March 4 - 1929 - Washington, D.C. At the rim it reads INAUGURATION OF HERBERT HOOVER AS PRESIDENT. The reverse shows the American flag. The over all length of the medal is 3 1/2 inches. Please see over 950 more collectibles for sale in my EBAY STORE at TE Collectables. (19,339 IRD)
