Description: Welcome to eBay, the largest yard sale and/or auction in the world. For your consideration is this Indian book Quill And BeadworkOf The Western SiouxBy Carrie A. Lyford For centuries, the women had been dyeing the quills of the porcupine, sewing them on to garments and bags, and weaving them into belts, much as they later sewed and wove the colored beads. This art of quillwork was an American Indian art, practiced nowhere else in the world, and the women gave it up gradually only because beads were so much easier to use. Any book, therefore, which describes beadwork, should also describe the quillwork, from which the ideas and the designs first came. Printed by the United States Department of the Interior - Office of Indian Affairs - Education Division in 1940. The book measures 10 3/16 inches by 7 15/16 inches by 1/2 of an inch and it weighs 1 pound 1.6 ounces. The pages are numbered 1-116. There is no writing anywhere in the book. None of the pages are ripped; torn; or creased due to having been folded. Shipping is free via media mail.
