Sony D-9 Discman :: Completely Restored D-90

Description: Sony D-90 Discman, Sony CPM-100P antivibration mount plate, 12V adapter, plus 9V battery pack included in the set Discman was fully restored, recapped and re-calibrated. New spindle motor installed, headphone coupling capacitors upgraded to 200uF Rubycon electrolytics Sony AC-930 and AC-940 wall-warts included with 1st Gen Sony Discmans output 14V with no load and 9-11V when under load, meaning when Discman is in Play. All antivibration plates (car mount plates) by Sony also provide DC for the Discman. But, unlike Sony wall-warts, these plates output stable regulated 9V for the Discman. Plate itself runs of 12V DC. All connectors are color-coded: Green ones snap together, Sony tip is for the Discman itself. However, all Discmans from my own collection sound their best off the batteries. 9V center-negative battery pack is included for your critical listening sessions. Battery pack accepts 6xAA alkaline batteries + 2x'dummies' (included) OR 8xAA 1.2V rechargeables. Do not forget to turn BatteryPack off (or to unplug) when not in use: D-90 draws 40mAmp in Standby/Off mode and drains batteries in less than a week! Designed and produced in 1989-1990, Sony D-90 was never intended to play CD-R discs, those appeared years later. Although not recommended because it stresses the player, this particular D-90 plays even 80+min CD-R.
