Description: Hi! You're looking at a SUPERB condition book which is a remarkable historical novel telling the story of the Aremenian Genocide by the Turks during World War I written by FRANZ WERFEL--the book is a beautiful HARDCOVER with the ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET published by The Modern Library in the "Modern Library Giant" series in 1934 and is NOT a remainder copy with no price on the inner flap. This book is in SUPERB condition and the book itself is an UNREAD copy with NO markings and with a slight ding on the lower right tip of the front cover and upper left tip of the back cover, two slight faded spots on the green-tinted upper page edge and NO other significant flaws; the dustjacket has very small torn out spots on the spine tips, a small tear on the lower front spine end, a few tiny tears and chips on the upper and lower edges, a light discolored spot on the upper center portion of the back surface, a light abrasion on the left edge of the front surface, slight sunning (fading) on the spne edge and just light shelfwear otherwise but no other significant flaws! The book is titled The Forty Days of Musa Dagh and it was written by FRANZ WERFEL and translated from the German by GEOFFREY DUNLOP; it was published by The Modern Library / Random House, Inc. in 1934.This is the story of how the people of several Armenian villages in the mountains chose not to obey the deportation order of the Turkish government. Instead, they fortified a plateau on the slopes of Musa Dagh and repelled Turkish soldiers and military police during the summer of 1915 while holding out hope that the warships of the Allies would save them. An international bestseller when first published in 1933, Franz Werfel's masterpiece brought the world's attention to this devastating crime against humanity and the Armenian people.A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this book! Thanks for looking, and good luck if you're bidding!
