Originally published in twenty-five volumes, including all of the important works of Twain, This Hillcrest edition is named after one of the homes of Twain, in Tarrytown, New York, purchased by his wife in 1902. The couple never lived at Hillcrest however, as they planned to renovate it, but his wife fell into ill health. This set shows his great influence over American literature. This set was personally edited by Clemens and bears his facsimile signature as an endorsement of this collection's authenticity. The copyrights were issued just three years before Clemens' death.
