Description: TRACKS AND TRAILS OR INCIDENTS IN THE LIFE OF A MINNESOTA TERRITORIAL PIONEER by Capt. "Nate" Dally. "Owner and Captain of the "Leila D' Steamboat, the first steamboat built and operated on Leech Lake by a private individual". Published by The Cass County Pioneer (Walker, Minnesota), 1931. First edition. Small softcover, 139 pages. Illustrated with a few black-and-white photographs and drawings. SIGNED and dated by the author on the front endpaper: "Nathan Dally, Walker, Sept. 5th 1931". Acceptable (fair) condition only. The covers and paper spine are completely detached (see the last two photographs). They are soiled and quite tattered, with chips, creases, a few old water stains and scribbles, etc. The text block is still firmly bound with staples. There's another person's signature on the same page as the author's, and an inscription on the rear endpaper. I have no idea if these were written by the author as well. The pages have varying degrees of wear--some creases, dust-soiling, smudges, foxing, edge-wear, etc., but most are generally clean. This copy is the first edition, published by "The Cass County Pioneer", and not the later reprint by "Pilot Newspapers, Inc." The author's signature and date make it even more scarce.
