Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - While the PUW 1463 automatic movement runs it only does so after the watch has been spun face down on a soft, flat surface. The more it's spun the longer it'll run. When the crown is in the first position and then turned clockwise, which should wind the movement, it instead sets the day, date and time. Nothing tends to happen when the crown is pulled out to the final position and then turned in either direction, which if working normally should be the position that sets the day, date and time. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1970's Helbros has an originally dark blue "GERMANY" signed dial that over time has aged naturally and uniquely to a turquoise hue. The pictures don't do it nearly the justice it deserves. In my humble opinion the color is truly special and unlikely to be seen on another example. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching toasted buttermilk hue. The bezel is missing. The all stainless steel lugholes case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL ANTIMAGNETIC" with "100%" followed by "WATERPROOF" and "20 ATM" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "HELBROS WATCHES." The crystal needs to be replaced.. The 17 jewels unadjusted "WALTHAM WATCH Co" and "PATENTED" stamped PUW 1463 automatic movement with semi-quickset date function will only run after the watch has been gently spun face down on a soft, flat surface. The semi-quickset date function works by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. Given the crown issues and considering the movement's unknown service history at a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. This watch comes on a "HONG KONG" and "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped bracelet showing moderate stretch. I'd guestimate it'll accommodate up to an approximate 7 inch wrist. The buckle/clasp snaps tightly shut. Given the crown issues and considering the movement's unknown service history at a minimum a complete overhaul is required. As such there being no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
