It is for a little girls layette consisting of dress (frock), matinee jacket, carrying shawl and head shawl all consisting in some form of a lovely lacy shell pattern. All items are knitted in 3-ply on either No.6 or No.10 needles. You may wish to knit this set in modern 4-ply as vintage 3-ply was 'heavier' than our modern 3-ply. This is a truly lovely pattern for a vintage layette a little out of the ordinary. Measurements, materials and tension information needed to complete this set for baby are below and taken directly from the pattern: MEASUREMENTS:Carrying Shawl- about 44 ins. square, including borders.Head Shawl- about 22 ins. square, including bordersMatinee Jacket- All round underarms, about 22 ins.; length from shoulder, 10 ins.; sleeve seam, 6 1/2 ins.Frock- All round underarms, about 22 ins.; length from shoulder, 16 1/2 ins.; sleeve seam, about 2 ins.
