Description: Vintage Russian Nesting Doll Matryoshka Wooden Stacking Set 10 Sergiev Posad. Largest doll 9.5” with ten dolls in total. Marked on the bottom is (Translated into English) S. Posad 10 M - stating that it was made in Sergiev Posad and that it contains 10 Matryoshka. I assume that it depicts a fair tale of sorts yet I’m unable to figure out which one. There is no date on the bottom so I’m unable to date it although I do believe it’s vintage from the style of the hand painting. There is a bit of chipping with the lacquer around the edges as well as a small 3/4” scuff on the lower portion of the main doll, not very noticeable yet it is there.
